DEMI-MAIL PHAETON built by T Tilling Ltd of Peckham, London circa 1825, to suit a single or pair. The body and undercarriage are painted black, with a fabric-lined folding leather hood over the two front seats, which are upholstered in blue cloth. The rear grooms' seat has storage beneath. The hood has mudguards attached, which would have been of patent leather, as was the dash. The brass hub caps are engraved “T Tilling Ltd, Peckham”. A quality carriage now in need of restoration. CANOE GLASS HEARSE built by Marston of Birmingham, circa 1900. Painted black with cream decorative scrolls, this supremely elegant and lightweight vehicle is in full operational order and excellent condition. There are glass doors to the front and rear which fully open, and decorative etching to the glass panels. Restored by Joe Thompson in the traditional manner. Large enough to take a full size casket. Owned and used by its present owners since 1992. Pole and lamps by Lawton of London as shown are included. The harness which complements this traditional turn out is being sold separately as lot 645.

VICTORIA, maker unknown but believed to have been made in Paris circa 1910. A lightweight carriage featuring a demi hood allowing it to be both partially down and fold away completely, and an occasional seat to increase occupancy from 2 to 4. In excellent condition with painted black exterior, red cloth interior, and leather hood with brass fixtures. Includes pole and shafts to suit 15hh single or pair. Measures 120" in length, 67.5" at widest point with 56" splinter bars, 34" front wheels and 42" rear wheels. Includes custom rain cover over occupants to keep them completely dry.
